When I travel I want to experience the culture and blend in. I want to be a local,
not a tourist stuck in a tourist trap.

I lived on Oahu for 6 years and never went to Waikiki once. Theres nothing
wrong with Waikiki, except that you can't experience Hawaii sitting on the beach
next to 50,000 tourists.

I took my family back to Hawaii for a visit after living on the main land for more
years than I would like to admit. I found a different Hawaii than I remember. Not
because it changed, but because when your a visitor, what you see and
experience are not the same as when you live there.

I want to share with you how to enjoy a different side of Hawaii. The side the
locals know.

I'm passionate and bias. That means you get my tips, like it or not. So here is
my first tip:

-Get out of Waikiki. That's easier said than done. Most of the hotels are in
Waikiki so unless your going to rent a house, this is where you will stay.
